Miss Bemadine M. Wilson of Sperryville has accepted the position of Librarian at the Rappahannock Library located on Gay Street in Washington. Miss Wilson retired in 1968 after 35 years as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. David Thornhill and C.G. Thornhill of Boston received awards for participation in the recent Orange Area Hog Show. Assistant Extension Agent Lee Brumback presented a check to each. David took second place for showing his Duroc gilt and C.G. was winner of a showmanship award and a sportsmanship award. He received a check and a trophy. Knitting classes will be offered this fall for the residents of Rappahannock County. Mrs. Mary Cleverley of Flint Hill will serve as instructor. In an advertisement for the Sperryville Comer Store the weekly bargains included: Sirloin steak for just 99 cents a pound; Porterhouse steak for $1.19 a pound and T-Bone steak for $1.09 per pound. Other offers were lettuce for 19 cents a head; a ten pound bag of potatoes for just 49 cents and three 16 ounce jars of strawberry preserves for one dollar.

The first polo game Bill Fannon ever watched was also the first polo game he ever played in. That was at Farmington on July 3, 1971. The following spring he started building a polo field on his own farm in Rappahannock. In addition to Bill Fannon, other players for Rappahannock are Jim Fletcher Massie, Butch Eastham, Jack Ferguson, John Lyle, Bill Tucker and Buzzy Rogers. Navy Fireman Recruit Charles E.
