An Evening in Paris, a musical program featuring an up-close look at the organ lofts of many great Parisian churches will be presented on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church.
Nancy Hall Berens will show slides and discuss the churches, composers who performed at those churches and their music. David Erwin will perform music written especially for the organs being featured.
Ms. Berens is a French teacher at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria. Mr. Erwin is the Director of Music Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Alexandria. During several trips to France, he heard and played famous French organs and studied with prominent French organist.
He recently returned from a four-month sabbatical that he spent in Paris as a student of Marie-Louise Langlais, professor at the Paris Conservatory.
While there, he played two recitals and substituted as organist at three of the churches being shown Sunday evening. The public is encouraged to attend this interesting must-media event. Admission is by donation.
