According to a recent survey of 438 physicians nationwide, fully 80 percent of family physicians have referred patients for religious counseling, particularly for helping to cope with grief and terminal illness. This shows an increased acknowledgement of the role that spirituality plays in health. And, it is linked with other research that has associated expressions of faith with a stronger immune system and less severe depression. Clearly, if the mind rules the body, it seems to be of great benefit to suffuse the mind with faith.
