Members of the Rappahannock County Garden Club gathered at the Washington fire hall on Sept. 15 for their monthly meeting. After enjoying refreshments provided by hostesses Maggie Bracewell, Celine Siira and Betty Wood, the group had a very informative program.
Mary Priest introduced the speaker for the day. Mr. Chuck «Hoysa from the Fauquier Extension Office talked to the group about Dogwoods.
Mr. Hoysa spoke about anthracnose, the fungus disease that is killing many Dogwood trees. He used slides to show the round scars that develop on the leaves of trees that are diseased with anthracnose and pointed fut other types of leaf-spot that result form virus infections.
