Several proposals for raising revenue have been advanced by council members, but the council has taken no action on any of them. The council deferred any action on substantive matters until next month’s meeting, when the three members elected in May will be seated on the council.
Action was taken on complaints received about poison ivy and other weeds on walls and sidewalks around town. At the suggestion of Councilman William Wickens, bleach will be used to eliminate the poison ivy. Mr. Wickens explained, “Bleach is safer than herbicides for use where it could come into contact with children or babies.”
Mr. Fisher also suggested that the council begin to think about utilizing the town hall. Evelyn Willis agreed that “meeting there is an excellent idea for a lot of reasons.” The first floor meeting hall would be a lot easier to get into, she added.
The possibility of converting the crawl space under the town hall into a “semi-basement” with a door in the back was also discussed. Jim ThomContinued
