Choral celebration on Fourth of July
A choral celebration of religious and secular music is being planned prior to the fireworks display at Avon Hall on July 4. All county churches, their choirs and/or singing groups are invited to participate. All interested ministers and choral directors should contact William Carrigan at Avon Hall, P.0. Auction items needed
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department is asking for items that can be sold at an upcoming auction. If you have any items you would like to donate and have picked up contact either Bruce Williams at 635-4673 or Bradley Williams at 636-2627.
The date for the auction will be decided later.
Woman’s club to meet
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet Tuesday, June 24, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Judy Brown near Washington. All members are urged to attend.
Talent show needs talent
The Rappahannock Association For the Arts and the Community (RAAC) needs lively local acts for the talent show on June 28. To audition, or for more information, call the RAAC office at 675-3193.
‘Back to the Future’
Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Crispin Clover, will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre June 21 and 22.
Robert Zemeckis co-wrote and directed this delightful screwball comedy about a 1980s teenager who travels back in time to the 50s when his parents were young. He ends up having to play matchmaker to ensure that his parents will get married and have him. The movie is rated PG.
Trail ride set
A group of Rappahannock Horsemen has scheduled a trail ride for Saturday, June 21. The ride will leave from Bill Lyne’s house in Gid Brown Hollow at 9 a.m. It will follow' clear trails at an easy pace into the Park, down Piney Branch Trail, across Pickeral Ridge and back to Mr. Lyne’s house.
