Despite its name, Rocky Mountain spotted fever is more likely to occur in the southeastern states than anywhere else in the United States when warm weather returns to the region. Rocky Mountain spotted fever is a serious disease which can cause death, especially in children. The disease occurs when infected ticks bite people. Although dogs and other pets may carry infected ticks, ticks on humans most often come from wooded areas where vegetation is dense. While the disease can be treated with antibiotics, the best treatment is preventing ticks from attaching by wearing garments with sleeves and TOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE.
