Congratulations to Mrs. Sallie Thornhill for reaching the milestone of her 30th anniversary with C & P Telephone Company. She started as a telephone operator in 1954 and was transferred to the Culpeper business office two years later. As a member of the community, her customers knew her personally and always expected to see her smiling face when they visited the Culpeper office.
With consolidation she was ' transferred to the Fairfax business office where she still provides friendly, courteous service. Mrs. Thornhill has maintained her sweet disposition due to her comfortable life on her Rappahannock farm with her husband, Gordon, who is manager of the Rappahannock Farmers Co-Op. They raise beef cattle, crops and hay on their 300-acre farm.
Their children Cary Gordon, Jr., David Allen and Melanie are each college educated, pursuing careers of their own. Cary Gordon is a selfemployed businessman who owns T. K. International, a worldwide livestock export company. David Allen is a mail carrier at Boston and has an excavating business. Melanie is an assistant manager at AT&T Communications in New Jersey.
