NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ORDINANCE TO PRESCRIBE STANDARDS FOR DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION OR ALTERATION OF BUILDINGS USED AND FUNDED BY THE PUBLIC Notice is hereby given, pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.1-504, as amended, that the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing on Monday, July 7,1986 at 10:00 o’clock A.M. in the Courthouse at Washington, Virginia to consider the following ordinance: 1) Purpose: The purpose of this ordinance is to prescribe standards for the design, construction or alteration of buildings located in Rappahannock County, Virginia which are: a) used by the public; and b) designed, constructed or altered by use, in whole or in part, of County funds; so to insure ready access, and use, by the physically handicapped. 2) Exemption: This Ordinance shall not apply to public school facilities. 3) Standard Established: Hereafter, any building or facility used by the public, or proposed for use by the public, which is designed, constructed or altered in whole or in part with County funds shall be designed, constructed or altered in accordance with Section 512.0 of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (1984 Edition). 4) Waiver of Standard: The County of Rappahannock reserves unto itself the power to waive or modify, on a case by case basis, the standard established by this Ordinance in accordance with Section 2.1-520 of the Code of Virginia. 5) Authority: This Ordinance is made pursuant to Section 2.1 -517 of the Code of Virginia. This publication contains the full text of the proposed ordinance; also the complete text of the proposed ordinance is available for public inspection at the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Rappahannock County, Washington, Virginia, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. and a copy is posted on the bulletin board inside the Rappahannock County Courthouse. All citizens are invited to attend and present their views. This notice is being published in the Rappahannock News, a newspaper of general circulation in the County of Rappahannock, Virginia, for two successive weeks as required by the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.
