His friend Mickey Saphir remembered hirrj on stage with Elton John’s haunting Daniel. He also performed a more cheerful number of his own composition, The Broom and The Rooster. David Clanagan, one of the crowd’s favorites, performed a medley of Elvis songs. Another favorite was Mo Day’s and Cathy Kiley’s From Bcmlder To Birmingham, a duet done with gentle alto harmony. There were young performers — Judith Bloomer, Dee Dee Grant, and Steve Norman, a selection of original songs from Steve and Margie Righter, a hot piano solo from Chris Barnes, and a selection of spirituals from a large group of a eapella singers.
