All UUVII 11/ I W Ml 1U 11/ I v were several talent shows, both at the drive-in and at the community center in Washington. Although not officially sponsored by any community group, they were jointly sponsored by the musical and dramatic community and supported by technical resources that would be the envy of any small theater group.
In 1977 the talent show became the All-Star-Revue with the sponsorship of Sursum Corda. This was the year that George Anderson appeared with striped legs and wings as a six-foot, six-inch rooster leading the “All-Chicken Revue.”
This talent show, and those up until 1980, have been captured on tape. Peter Kreyling has compiled the highlights of the shows into a “Best of the All-Star Revues” cassette. In 1977, Mr. Kreyling selected Charlie Tompkins and the Casanova Cut-Ups singing What Have They Done, (to the old home-place), a fastpaced but poignant bluegrass tune interspersed with the cheers and whistles of the crowd at the old high school.
The original OK’s — Terry Waggener, Warren Phinney, Ronnie Wilson and Bill Abernathy — performed an instrumental, jazzy number known as the OK’s Theme.
