Practical nursing program

Piedmont Technical Education Center has a few openings in their next practical nursing class which begins September 2. This is an 18month program with no tuition for residents of Culpeper, Madison, Orange or Rappahannock counties. It prepares a student to take the State Board of Nursing Examination to become licensed as a practical nurse. Applications will be accepted through July 3. Interested persons should call 825-0476 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

VBC at Washington Baptist

Vacation Bible School will be held at Washington Baptist Church July 7-11 from 9:30 to noon daily. The program is sponsored jointly by Trinity Episcopal and Washington Baptist Churches. All children ages 2-17 are encouraged to attend.

Innkeeper workshop planned

The Conyers House near Sperryville is sponsoring a workshop for innkeepers and would-be innkeepers on Saturdays, July 5 and 12, August 2 and September 13. The general discussion on the pluses and minuses of innkeeping will begin at 10 a m. Attendance is limited. A complimentary lunch will be served. An herbal weekend

Faith Mountain in Sperryville is sponsoring a weekend of “Herbs for flavor, fun and fragrance" on June 28 and 29.

There will be demonstrations of potpourri and sachet making, basil, pesto, herb butter and vinegars, cheese balls, herb teas and hors d’oeuvres. There will also be free refreshments and an ice-cream making demonstration with plenty of free samples.

Missionary society to sponsor trip

Wayland Blue Ridge Missionary Society will sponsor a trip to the Baptist General Convention which will be held at the Zion Baptist Church in Newport News. The bus will leave from the Safeway parking lot in Culpeper on June 26 at 5 a.m. and will arrive back there at 9 p.m. For reservations contact Rachel Avlor at 987-8739 or Dolores Wilson at 399-1300.
