A recent acquisition to the reference section of the Rappahannock County Library will be of great interest to high school juniors and seniors. The Scholarship Book by Daniel J. Cassidy and Michael J. Alves is a comprehensive guide to grants, scholarships, loans, fellowships, internships, and contest prizes for which our high school students could be eligible. This book offers a treasury of corporations, unions, trust funds, religious and fraternal organizations, associations and private philanthropists who are offering financial assistance.
In addition to the listing of financial aid programs there are two other sections in The Scholarship Book. In the “Specific Publications” section are listed books, pamphlets, and other material helpftil for selecting courses, and exploring careers. Examples are A Woman’s Guide to Apprenticeships, Financial Aid for Minority Students, and International Directory of Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Schools. Another guide of special interest to women who have not been involved in academics for some time and don’t know where to begin looking for financial aid is The Women’s Guide to Career
