Special accommodations by the state may allow Rappahannock’s privately owned and operated landfill to remain open until the Board of Supervisors secures a new site for solid waste disposal.
Robert Forman, regional director of the state Health Department’s Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, ■ visited the landfill on Clifton Clark’s property near Woodville on Monday. He confirmed his earlier assessment that .“capacity will definitely be reached by the end of June.”
The closure plan he requested two months ago has not been submitted “but it will be shortly,” Mr. Forman said in a telephone interview Tuesday evening.
However, that closure plan will now include a provision for limited expansion of the site.
