The Rappahannock Girls Varsity basketball coach, Laura Conklin, told her team to play the rest of their games without any pressure and to simply have fun. Unfortunately this new strategy offered little change in the final results over the past week.
The Lady Panthers met a sharp Stonewall Jackson team Tuesday night and lost by a final score of 8732. Stonewall found success penetrating a Panther zone defense which led to easy scoring inside, while the Panthers struggled with their own offense. The Panthers shot 29 percent from the field and 33 percent from the charity stripe. The Generals offense exploded for 26 second-quarter points, and the Panthers never again found themselves in the game. Cari Kerr, Kylene Wolfe, and Dawn Havstad each scored 8 points to lead a balanced scoring attack.
The Junior Varsity Panthers also were left with bad memories of Stonewall Jackson High as they lost 57-17. The undersized Panthers were consistently outrebounded on each end of the court. Stonewall opened
