The proposal for a large development on land owned by the Miller family around Sperryville did not receive much support at the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection’s annual meeting at the Sperryville Fire Hall last Thursday evening.
Of particular concern was the issue of low-cost housing — what demand there is for it, whether the need could be better satisfied with Habitat for Humanity projects, and whether the presence of such housing would encourage people to move into Rappahannock County from already existing suburbs in Northern Virginia.
There was considerable discussion of presently existing housing in Sperryville that is on the real estate market and is not selling.
