A fuel-injected Series II 3.8 L V-6 delivering 205-h.p. (over last year’s 170-h.p. design) will be available as an option in the ’96 Regal, and as standard equipment in the ’96 LeSabre and ’96 Park Avenue Ultra.
Taking the Series II powerplant one step further, the ’96 Buick Riviera, which was introduced as a new model last year, will get a supercharged Series II that will produce 240 h.p.
The ’96 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 and Pontiac Firebird with standard LT1 5.7 L (350 cid) engine gets a 10-h.p. increase, to 285 horsepower.
The Camaro SS gets 15 more horsepower on top of that (for a total of 300h.p.) from a mean-looking ram-air intake system in the center of the hood.
The Chevy Cavalier Z-24, restyled in ’95, gets the new 150-h.p. dual overhead cam 2.4 L four. It will be available in coupe and convertible models.
The fourth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette will wind up its final year in ’96, with a special Grand Sport edition. About 1000 of these cars will be built, all powered by the 5.7 L LT4 V-8, and painted Admiral blue and white.
