Portrait painter Ned Bittinger will make a presentation at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Rappahannock Public Library. Selecting as his subject a member of the audience, Mr. Bittinger will make a portrait “come alive.”
Ned Bittinger is an award-winning portrait artist who also enjoyed painting figurative scenes, landscapes and illustrations.
Influenced by such great artists as John Singer Sargent, Ilya Repin, Valentin Serov and N.C. Wyeth, he uses an art technique called “Alla Prima,” meaning, “at the First” in Italian. Because this method requires skillful manipulations of wet paint, his brushwork appears fresher and
