The Friends of the Library have purchased many new audiobooks for the library. New titles include, The Shipping News, Mists of Avalon, First Person Rural, and foreign language instruction (several different languages), along with some new audios by favorite authors Barbara Michaels, Elmore Leonard, Sharyn McCrumb, Dorothy Gilman, and Dick Francis.
The Friends have recently sent their annual mailing. This lists many of the ways the Friends have helped the library in the last year. Purchasing the computer we use to access the Internet and giving many of the prize books to summer reading participants were just two of their highlights this year. If you did not receive a mailing or would like to be on the Friends mailing list call the library or ask it the circulation desk.
Bill Young has his photographs on display in the lobby during the month of October. June Jordan will he the artist for November. Stop by during regular hours to see these exhibits. We are looking for local artists to display their works next year. Interested artists should call the library. The Friday program on November 3 will feature artist Ned Bittinger: The program starts at 8 p.m. and is free.
October will also bring new library director Dave Shaffer. Please make him feel as welcome as you have made me.
