Increased power is the big news in the ’96 Mustang lineup as well. FoMoCo is offering two new V-8s for its GT and Cobra models.
The ’96 Mustang GT comes standard with a 4.6 L single overhead cam V-8 that produces 215 h.p.; the ’96 Cobra gets a 32-valve 4.6 with dual overhead cams producing 305-h.p.
Even the base ’96 Mustang coupe and convertible get more power; the standard 3.8 L V-6 is up 5-h.p., to 150.
If you’re careful, you might see one of the 2000 ’96 Cobras that will be painted with a new, light-refracting coating. These cars appear black (the base coat), green, amber, gold or purple, depending on how the light hits them.
