trip. The outing took place at ACE Outdoors in West Virginia. Everyone enjoyed the rafting, and scouts were even allowed to guide individual duckies down the river.
The week after our rafting trip, we held our first Court of Honor. Chris Graves earned his First Class rank. Jonathan Deal, Jeremy Graves, Jeff Hudson, Joey Joback, and Drew Patterson earned their Tenderfoot ranks. One week later, Zach Corbin received his First Class rank.
During our Court of Honor, Silver Beaver John Chadwick of Brooksville, Florida, donated a troop flag and United States flag to Troop 200. The flags and poles were presented by Mr. Chadwick and his son, Eagle Scout Bruce Chadwick of Viewtown.
The second week of August proved to be a valuable learning experience for the scouts. That week Troop 200 attended scout camp at Camp Rock Enon. While there, many badges were earned by the scouts. We even earned the 490 award for camping.
We are currently planning our , future calendar of events. A camping trip and hike are being scheduled for October. The Troop will also be selling popcorn and peanuts in October. Money earned goes toward the troop as well as the local scouting council.
Our major fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4. Troop 200 will be sponsoring a Celebrity/Sports Dinner Auction. The cost of the dinner will be $5 for anyone 12 and over. Youths 11 and under will be $3. Some of the items already received for the auction include: autographed photos of Hank Aaron, Alabama, Wayne Gretsky, Bob Hope, Chevy Chase and A1 Gore; an autographed CD from the Statlers; autographed book by Joe Patemo; autographed hat by FSU football coach, Bobby Bouden; sports tickets and much more.
Boy Scouts are not the only ones in troops who earn badges and attend classes. Assistant Scout Leader, Gary Graves, earned his liquid fuel badge while attending Scoutmaster Fundamentals Training in September.
