with a small population and a small tax base. He has balanced his law enforcement priorities with the realities of limited budgets. He understands the critical connections of education, parenting and recreation for the prevention of juvenile crime. He and his department are involved and committed to a number of programs in our local schools. He places a high priority on conducting accurate and timely investigations and presenting our local prosecutor with cases that can lead to convictions. . As a neighbor, John Woodward has also proven himself to be the kind of individual that makes this county the very best place to live and raise a family. In addition to pitching in and helping neighbors in times of/need, he has captained the local volunteer fire department for many years. He teaches lifesaving and firefighting skills to the men and women who volunteer their time and energy and risk their lives to the benefit of the community.
Rappahannock County does not have a desperate need for high tech traffic and crimefighting equipment. It does have continuing need for quality law enforcement leadership which is involved in every level of the community, and especially in schools and recreation. John Woodward has provided that leadership for twelve years, and has continually improved the service provided by the Sheriff’s Department.
