Depending on the year and model of your car, you may have as many as four rubber belts driving the air conditioner compressor, radiator fan, water pump, alternator, power steering pump and other components. Newer cars have a single “serpentine” belt driving everything. Failure of a belt can be inconvenient, if not catastrophic. Belts should be closely inspected and replaced as needed.
