*96 Sunfire has new engine
Changes in the ’96 Pontiac line-up include the new 2.4 L 4-cylinder dual overhead cam engine as standard equipment in the ’96 Sunfire GT and ’96 Grand Am models. The ’96 Bonneville gets new headlights and taillights.
1996 will be the last year for the Pontiac Grand Prix as we know it. A replacement will be announced this summer.
Some all-new models, and increased power across the board, are the big stories in the GM truck lines.
The durable Vortec 4.3 L V-6 used in the Chevy Blazer and similar GMC Jimmy got new cylinder heads and structural improvements that give better acceleration.
V-6 equipped Chevy S-IO and GMC Sonoma pickups get the same engine improvements. Extended-cab models also get a small access panel (Don’t call it, a door.) to reach the storage compartment behind the driver’s door.
