John Joseph Messick, 32, of Philippi, West Virginia, showed up in Circuit Court last Thursday after having been a fugitive for five years.
Mr. Messick was sought for a violation of probation, nonpayment of court costs and restitution in the amount of $655.65. He said that recently he was stopped for a traffic violation in West Virginia, and told the policeman that he was a fugitive from justice because he knew that a check of his background would show that. He was transported to Rappahannock County and held until his court date last week.
Obvious distressed over the situation, Mr. Messick said that he has grown up a lot over the last 10 years and now lives in West Virginia with a wife and two children. “I am ready to pay my court costs, be a man and face up to this. I have lived in pure agony, running for five years,” he told the court.
