“I think everybody agrees this is a special place,” Ms. LaPre commented. “Things in the outside world are starting to affect us more. Developing a deeper community cooperation is critical to keeping Rappahannock County rural and healthy.”
If you would like to participate in the plantings, with labor or donations of plant materials, call Ms. LaPre at 547-3972 for information. So far, funds have been collected to pay for the plants and mulch to fill the bed in front of Shaw’s.
Monetary donations are needed to complete the major portion of the project, and are tax deductible. Donations can be sent to: Piedmont Environmental Council, 45 Horner Street, Box 460, Warrenton, VA 22186. Donations must be clearly marked for the “Sperryville Turn Lane Planting Project” for appropriate allocation.
