the volunteers who have a unique opportunity to observe and to appreciate the high quality of our young people This program, now a global, year - round activity of the International Lions Clubs was first inspired by that great American, Helen Keller, who wisely challenged the first Lion members to become “The Knights of the Blind,"many years ago.
Lions in most of the nations of the world today devote time, talent and millions of research dollars toward the goal of overcoming sight and hearing disability and the ultimate elimination of preventive blindness on a global basis. Our local Lion’s are dedicated to fulfill this purpose in Rappahannock County.
We could not continue to provide this type of service without the loyal and generous support of our friends and neighbors throughout the year. The next event that has always received your fine support and active participation is the annual Lion auction, May 15 6 p.m. at the Washington fire hall.
As in past years the Lions are seeking your donations of things that you no longer need, but that someone else could possibly use. Think about it. Take time to survey the attic, the garage, the basement or the bam, and when you find that certain thing, or two, Or three, or more, call Buck Payne at 987-8303 or Roger Andrews at 987-8974.
