towers in Salem and Amissville, but there have been no new developments on the issue.
Ron Frazier, the commission’s representative from the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors, thought that the county could benefit from a tower in western Fauquier County.
Commission member Susan Babcock expressed that there needs to be better communication between the counties in this region in dealing with the communications tower issues.
Family apartments
The apartment applications were the only new business in front of the commission.
• The first request was the Compton family apartment. Mrs. Virginia Compton addressed the board, asking permission to convert an existing garage on her property on Richmond Road in Castleton into a one bedroom apartment for her son and his wife, who were also in attendance.
Mrs. Compton stated that her husband is ill, and she would like to have her son close by.
The commission voted unanimously to pass the application on to the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) with a recommendation for approval.
• The commission then reviewed the Bledsoe family apartment application. Paul Bledsoe, who recently acquired a property in Chester Gap, addressed the commission.
Bledsoe said that he wants to build a main house for himself and his wife, and an apartment for his elderly father, who wishes to return to the area.
He does not have approval from the Health Department, and still needs to obtain a building permit.
