Macbeth at RCHS
Shenandoah Shakespeare Express presents Macbeth on Thursday, May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County High School. Performance is sponsored by the Rappahannock Schools, the Curriculum Enrichment Committee and the Rappahannock Association for Arts and the Community. Tickets available at the door, $6 for adults. No charge for students.
May Musicale to be presented
The Performing Arts Series of the Front Royal Presbyterian Church will present Presbyterian musicians in a May Musicale on Sunday, May 2 at 4 p.m. This church is unusual in that there are quite a few members who have musical training and it was thought that the community would enjoy hearing a performance by them. Included will be selections for flute, clarinet, piano, voice, organ duet and a handbell quartet.
Concerts of this series are free and open to the public although a free-will offering can be given. A nursery will be provided and a reception will follow the concert.
Kids ’ fishing day planned
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the Town of Front Royal and the Northern Shenandoah Valley and Rapidan Chapters of Trout Unlimited, are cosponsoring Front Royal Kid’s Fishing Day on Saturday, May 8. This event will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Happy Creek, adjacent to Bing Crosby Field from the staked low water bridge to the train trestle. Access is from the intersection of Commerce Street Route 522 and East 8th Street.
Children, ages two to 15 are invited to participate and must be accompanied by parents with minimal parental involvement in fishing. There will be wildlife displays and a drawing of prizes for kids.
Torgeson in concert
RAAC is pleased to present pianist/composer, Mark Torgeson in concert on Saturday, May 1 at 8 p.m. at The Theatre at Washington. A resident of Rappahannock, Mark is celebrating the release of his third album. His style is classical and impressionistic with elements of jazz and world ethnic music. Blending these diverse elements, he creates an expression that is unique, personal and captivating. Tickets are $10. Call 675-3193 to reserve.
