As plans for Rappahannock’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life take final form, participating teams and their members are turning their attention to what ultimately is the real purpose of the event. That, of course, is to raise funds to assist in the fight against cancer.
At a meeting in the Flint Hill Fire Hall, event organizers agreed on the schedule for the May 21 and 22 event. The relay festivities will begin with registration at 5 p.m. and will continue through breakfast and closing ceremonies the next morning.
The detail of the schedule will be published at a later date and will include times not only for such things as opening ceremonies and the lighting of illuminaria but also times for “dancing in the street”, roller blading, and the all important “Eating of Pizza” (called Midnight Madness by some prior participants!).
