Pony power
Saturday’s Virginia Gold Cup races will open with a trio of pony races for junior riders starting at 11:15 a.m. Divisions for small, medium and large ponies will be held if entries warrant. Ponies race on the flat, no jumps, and the distances are relatively short - 3/8ths to 1/2 mile. Entries are open now for the races; for more information, call the Gold Cup office at (540) 347-1215.
