The Rappahannock Roads Coalition, coordinated by Donna Lapr6, moved forward on a number of fronts. The Road Guideline and Questionnaire forfn has been finalized and is already being used to obtain Old Hollow residents’ perspectives on road character, features and development, and will be used to influence future VDOT and Rappahannock Board of Supervisors decisions and plans.
The Old Hollow Roads Coalition group met recently with Bob Moore of the VDOT to discuss Old Hollow road issues. The meeting was coordinated by Carol Lucking, and was attended by 12 Old Hollow residents and LaprA
The group sought to affect VDOT designs for upcoming bridge refurbishment, and to express concern for environmental and aesthetic issues surrounding the impending bridge work and other VDOT activities in the area.
Moore told the Coalition participants that VDOT is changing the way it does business, and wants to service localities better than it has in the past. His interaction with the Old Hollow group provided some indication of his sincerity—on the first bridge between US 211 and Route 600 near the Apple Hill B&B, he agreed to replace the planned shiny galvanized
