Bus trip to National Cathedral

The Annual Flower Mart at the Washington National Cathedral will take place May 7 and 8. To avoid the hassle of driving to this popular event, join Trinity Episcopal Church Women on Friday, May 7 and travel by bus, leaving the church parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Lunch is available to buy at stands on the grounds of the Cathedral. The bus will return that afternoon, leaving the Cathedral at 3 p.m. Expected time of arrival back at the church is 4:30 p.m. Round-trip cost: $15 per person. Youth quilting class to begin

There will be a youth beginning quilting class at the Rappahannock Extension Office after school Monday, May 24 and June 7. Ellen Manson of the Yarn and More Shop located in Washington has graciously offered this wonderful opportunity. There may be a small cost for this once in a lifetime, fun workshop. This workshop is sponsored by 4H. If you are interested please call the Extension Office at 675-3619 to register.

Play scheduled for June

New Hope Deliverance Ministry under the direction of Minister Doris Fletcher will present a play, “What Time Is It!” in June. For more information, location and exact dates call Minister Fletcher at 675-1434.

Hatha Yoga classes underway

Hatha Yoga classes are currently underway at Moose Hill Farms near Slate Mills, in two six-week sessions. Beginners and experienced students are welcome. Morning sessions will be held Mondays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and evening sessions on Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Classes combine stretching, breathing and relaxation exercises to tone the nerves, muscles, glands, ligaments and joints. The results include reduced stress and increased flexibility and strength, simultaneously calming and energizing the mind and body. SummerQuest applications available

Gifted and talented students presently in grades 5, 6 and 7 are eligible to apply for a two week summer program held at Rappahannock County Elementary School. There is no cost. SummerQuest runs from July 26 to Aug. 6. The theme for this year is Brain Power: You Don’t Have to Be a Genius to Think Like One. Classes are offered in the areas of art, history, math, music, science and writing. Deadline for applications is April 30.

Saturday, May 8: “Blue Ridge to the Bay” Second Saturday Hike Series to upper Rappahannock River tributaries in the Shenandoah National Park. Destination: Robinson River of Rapidan River sub-watershed along White Oak Canyon and Cedar Run Trail loop. Bring food for self and layered clothing according to the weather of the day. Note:$5 SNP trail fee or annual pass required on this hike. Meet at Mountainside Market, 987-9100 between 8-8:30 a.m. and return mid-to-late afternoon. Contact Hunt Harris at 987-3366.
