Dear Point-To-Point Fans:
Without you, racing over fences in Virginia would not have achieved the success and popularity it now enjoys. For many of you, this is one of the few opportunities you have to witness and participate in a sport, that until only recently was considered to be an exclusive right of a specially privileged group of our society.
It is to you, that this first issue, of what we hope will continue to be an annual Virginia Steeplechasing supplement of the five Arundel Newspapers is dedicated.
We have tried to cover every aspect of this exciting sport, in a way that will be both interesting and informative to both novice and veteran race enthusiasts, reviewing both historic events as well as explaining its more technical side.
