Conditions
In order to make the competition closer, and to give horses of lesser ability a better chance, races are designed to meet certain conditions of distance, weight carried, horse’s age and rider’s ability.
Both point-to-points and sanctioned hunt meets usually have at least one race for maidens, which are horses that have not won a race of that category-flat, hurdles or timber. However, a winner in one category may run in a maiden race of a different type.
Weight allowances are given for age-sevefal pounds less for younger horses, less for mares and for non-winners. In the case
