Another item of practicality, gloves. It used to be that when one got“dressed up”, gloves were an integral item of attire. Nowadays, they seem to be worn only in cold weather. Gloves not only complete the rider’s outfit by lending a finished look; the wearing of the correct type of gloves can become a safety factor, just as each of the above listed items. Brown leather provides perhaps the most protection from scratches by overhanging branches, insect stings, etc., as well as blisters, when one has not been riding every day or so.
