I don’t want to spend $21,000,” said Eastham.
“I don’t care who you get, as long as it’s someone < qualified to do the job,” said Eldred. “That’s all I have to say.”
Sharon Kilpatrick spoke from the audience, asking that the architect chosen by the board for the initial “costing out” be instructed to work out a more suitable space for dramatic productions at the high school. (The superintendent’s present design calls for a combination library - stage area.)
Kilpatrick also asked the board to consider providing some of the funds for the seventh grade class trip. “As the mother of a seventh - grader, I know now that seventh grade means a continuous series of fund-raising events, one right after the other. Surely the kids have learned a lot from these events, but it’s getting harder and harder. This year they have raised about $5,000. I think the board could pay part of these expenses.”
“Does anyone here want to speak on the operating budget,” Eastham asked. “Anyone want buses, paper, supplies?”
