The character of a senile father with lecherous intentions took form. The actors built the persons of a two-times lover. They made their lines work.
And in doing so, they gained a better understanding of theater. “The workshop had lessons on acting, lessons on directing, lessons on the actual writing of a script — everything that comes together on stage,” said one tired but happy participant after four and a half hours of Bart Whiteman. “He made us think. It will be months before we realize everything we’ve learned.”
