A center course pond has been built, as well as a level paddock and an area for 15 saddling stalls. Initial roads are complete to service future course areas planned for showing and eventing as well as steeplechasing.
One of the biggest hurdles overcome in the preparation of the new course was not the physical work involved, but meeting the zoning requirements for a facility of this nature.
Final approval came in September 1982, when the Fauquier Board of Supervisors granted a special exception permit, which will be subject to review in three years. At that time changes in the conditions can be made if necessary.
Projects in the works include course design, with a team made up of experienced riders, trainers, and veterinarians. Landscape planning which will include tree and shrub planting is proceeding under the direction of Meade Palmer. Construction of a
