Meanwhile, Rappahannock legislators said they will continue to urge the conferees to \approve the ftinding which would pay half the estimated $163,000 cost of Rappahannock’s jail renovation.
“We’re still fighting—not fighting, just discussing,” said Del. Raymond R. “Andy” Guest, Jr. (R-Warren). “We’ll just have to see what we can do and make sure it’s fresh in their memory.”
‘We’re going to have to work to try to keep (the money) in there,” said Sen. Nathan H. Miller (R-Rockingham). “I think we’ve got a good cause.”
The conferees began meeting this week to work out differences between the House and Senate budgets and are expected to issue a report to both bodies later in the week. It may not be until late Saturday before it is clear whether Rappahannock will get state fimding. The legislature is scheduled to adjourn on Saturday.
