Rappahannock’s month long voter registration drive has pushed the county registration mark to about 63 percent of the eligible voters here.
According to voter registrar Ruth Kilby, 60 percent of eligible voters were registered before the drive started so the increase is a modest three,percent.
That’s not much to be proud of.
Why is it that Virginians have such a dismal record? Why are the sons and daughters of George Washington, James Madison, George Mason and Thomas Jefferson so slow to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed right to vote.
