9. Place the window glass with all this on it on the bricks so that there is room underneath to place the mirror to observe the growth of roots.

10. Check daily for signs of roots. They usually appear in four or five days at approximately 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

11. If the seed fails to germinate, remove the old seed and the surrounding soil and repeat steps 7, 8, 9 and 10.

12. Once a week draw the outline of the root system on the bottom side of the glass. Use a different color wax pencil each week. In a few weeks there will be a growth record of the roots.
