7. Do you feel that county ordinances should be codified and warrants written under county—rather than state—laws? What purpose would this serve ?
‘The issue raised by your question is not new. I think this is a decision that is not up to the commonwealth’s attorney but rather to the board of supervisors. It might provide additional revenue to the county but this would depend on the volume of criminal offenses that might conceivably, be prosecuted under a county ordinance. It seems to me that if there is support for this concept, it would require more study and analysis to determine whether it would really be worth while. Should the board of supervisors request such a study or request me to draft a proposed set of county ordinances, I will make myself available to do so. ”
