Contract prices for new crop wheat were in the neighborhood of $3.50 a bushel and prices were expected to drift lower as PIK grain began moving to market and harvest pressure increased over the next several weeks.
But at the Virginia Farm Bureau, spokesmen are scoffing at the “artificially induced higher prices for feed grains and soybeans.” In a report to Congress VFBF officials posed the problem: “What good are $4 corn and $9 soybean prices if you don’t have any to sell?”
