The marriage of Miss Melody Dawn Payne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Payne of Culpeper, and Roger Earl Kidwell, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Earl Kidwell, Sr. of Flint Hill, took place on Saturday, August 13, at 2 p.m. at Culpeper Baptist Church in Culpeper.

The Rev. David Lavery officiated at the double ring ceremony before a candlelit altar decorated with palms and ferns.

The bride, escorted by her father, and given in marriage by her parents, wore a formal gown of white knit chiffon with a chapel length train edged in alencon lace, featuring a high neckline and bodice of alencon lace and seed pearls.

The bishop sleeves extended into a point with seed pearls and alencon lace over the hand. She wore a matching headpiece of alencon lace with seed pearls and carried a cascading bouquet of miniature white orses and white carnation^ surrounded by green foliage.
