each Saturday in fire halls around the county, only a handful of people came to register five minutes from home. At Amissville, for instance, only three new residents made the minimal investment of time and effort to exercise their constitutional right.

We’ve heard that people don’t want to register because potential jurors are selected from the lists of registered voters and they don’t want to be called for jury duty. We hope the shirkers someday have to worry about the assemblage to a jury of THEIR peers who will be called upon to hear THEIR case. Then they may take this constititutional protection a little more seriously.
