Naramore says judging helps jiarticipants later when shopping for horses. They learn how conformation defects will affect performance. Thus they can avoid a less expensive horse that might pose problems later, especially with faulty legs.
Other skills that participants sharpen are in the areas of public speaking, note taking, formulating ideas and making decisions. I hese abilities, Naramore says “will go on no matter what they do.”
Attending contests also offers members the chance to “meet a lot of good people in the horse industry and see a lot of different kinds of horses."
