Holiday menus also tempt pupils to participate in the hot lunch program. For example, on Halloween the elementary school cafeteria will be serving Golden Goblin sandwiches (honey and peanut butter), Witches’ brew, Jack O’Lantern salad, Halloween cookies and the usual choice of milk.
Cafeteria supervisor Pat Jenkins has been known to dress festively for special days. Last year she came disguised as a witch on Halloween; at Easter she dressed as a bunny.
On the last day of each month, students and teachers who had birthdays during that month each receive a free cupcake.
