The number of registered voters in Rappahannock County has increased by about seven percent over the past month.
According to general registrar Ruth Kilby, 2,884 were registered at election time last year. The latest validated return from Richmond dated September 22 shows 2,998 registered. “I mailed 71 new registration forms to Richmond yesterday and 1 already have eight more,” Kilby reported last Thursday.
That brings the total to 8,077, an increase of 193. The biggest jump comes in the Castletonarea,the registrar said. “We registered 17 new people at the fire hall there two weeks ago.”
