Gateway meeting
slated for Sept. 19
There will be a Sperryville Gateway meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Sperryville fire hall. Interested persons are invited to attend. For additional information call Tom at 987-8617.
Woodville celebrates
community picnic
The Town of Woodville will hold its 11th annual community picnic on Saturday, Sept. 28 beginning at 3 p.m. “We will roast a large hog and will be ready to serve at 3:30. Please bring your favorite side dish and drink to share,” said an organizer.
Entertainers should come prepared with songs, poetry, instruments, and tall tales and make good use of the open microphone. Come visit with the community, pitch horseshoes, play volleyball and relax and enjoy the outstanding view.
The picnic will be held at the usual Blue Ridge overlook location in Woodville. From downtown, turn up Red Oak Mountain Road (618) and follow the signs. This is a free event and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

DMV issues warning
Late last week the Department of Motor Vehicles warned citizens that the agency is not currently conducting a telephone survey about the regional November transportation referendum.
Citizens have reported receiving phone calls from individuals posing as representing from either DMV or the Virginia Department of Transportation. Both agenices, however, have verified that they are not currently conducting any type of survey.
